Settings

Fit photos inside the width and height you set, proportions kept, as many at once as you need.

Resizing changes how many pixels an image has, which is what layouts, slides, listings and profile uploads care about. You set a maximum width and height; each image is scaled down to fit inside that box with its proportions unchanged, so nothing is stretched or cropped. Smaller dimensions also mean much smaller files. Resize JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC or AVIF, keep their format or switch to another, all in your browser.

    How to use Resize image

    1. Drop the images you want to resize; a mix of formats is fine.
    2. Enter the max width and height (for example 1920 × 1080 for a slide, 1200 × 1200 for a product listing) and choose the output format: same as input, JPG, PNG, WEBP or AVIF.
    3. Resize and download the images or a ZIP.

What happens to quality, size and metadata

Downscaling is done in stages with a high-quality filter, which avoids the jagged edges and shimmering patterns of a one-step shrink. Images that already fit inside the box are not enlarged: upscaling only adds blur.

File size falls roughly with the pixel count, so halving width and height leaves about a quarter of the data. JPG output keeps the date taken and drops GPS by default; PNG, WEBP and AVIF outputs carry no EXIF. HEIC and AVIF inputs become JPG when “same as input” is selected, so they open everywhere.

On a Mac, Preview’s Tools › Adjust Size takes exact dimensions and can work on several selected images at once. On Windows 11, Photos offers Resize image from its menu with preset sizes, and Paint’s Resize and skew (Ctrl+W) takes pixel or percentage values. iPhones have no built-in resize for photos; the Shortcuts app can build one, and a browser page like this is the zero-setup option.

    Troubleshooting

    • The form wants exactly 200 × 230 px. This page fits images inside a box and never crops, so the other side may come out smaller. Crop to the right proportion first, then resize.
    • The image didn’t get bigger. We don’t upscale; it already fit inside your box.
    • Resized, but the file is still too big. Lower the quality, or use a compress-to-size page for an exact KB limit.
    • Transparency disappeared. You chose JPG. Pick PNG, WEBP or AVIF to keep it.

    Questions and answers

How do I resize an image without losing quality?

Shrinking always removes pixels, but done well it doesn’t look worse at the new size. We downscale in steps with a high-quality filter, which keeps edges clean. Choose PNG output for zero compression loss, or JPG at quality 90 for photos. Avoid enlarging small images: no resizer can invent real detail.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?

Resizing changes the image’s dimensions in pixels, for example 4000 × 3000 to 2000 × 1500. Compressing keeps the dimensions and stores them in fewer bytes by discarding detail. Resizing is usually the bigger saving for large photos; the best results often combine both.

Can I resize many photos at once?

Yes. Drop a whole folder; the same max width, height and format apply to every image, and each keeps its own proportions. Portrait and landscape photos both fit the box correctly. When it is done, download everything as one ZIP.

How do I resize a photo for a website or social media?

Find the largest size the image will be shown at and use that as your max width. Around 1920 px wide covers full-screen images, 1200 px most content columns and social link previews, 1080 px square posts. Choose WEBP for your own website and JPG for social uploads, which re-compress images anyway.
