Make saved web images into ordinary JPGs that every app, printer and upload form accepts.
JPG is the format to pick when a WEBP has to go somewhere picky: a job portal, a print shop, an old version of Office, a marketplace listing. Unlike PNG, a JPG of a photo stays small, usually close to the WEBP’s own size. This page decodes the WEBP in your browser and writes a JPG at the quality you choose, filling any transparent areas with the background colour you set. Files stay on your device.
How to convert WEBP to JPG
- Drop the WEBP images here.
- Keep quality at 90 for product photos or prints; 80 is plenty for uploads. If the images have transparent parts, pick the background colour (white by default).
- Convert, then download each JPG or a ZIP of all of them.
What happens to quality, size and metadata
Both formats are lossy, so the image is compressed a second time. At quality 90 that second pass is hard to spot; at 70 and below you may see softer detail and faint blocks in smooth skies. Because WEBP is the more efficient format, the JPG is normally a little larger than the WEBP at the same visual quality.
Transparency doesn’t exist in JPG. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are blended onto the background colour, white unless you choose another. Web WEBPs rarely carry camera metadata; if one does, the JPG keeps the date taken and drops the location by default.

WEBP WebP is an image format Google released in 2010, documented as RFC 9649. It has a lossy and a lossless mode, transparency and animation, and is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality. Websites use it heavily, but some desktop apps and upload forms still refuse it.
JPG JPG is the lossy photo format standardised in 1992 as ITU-T T.81. It throws away detail the eye barely notices, and the quality setting decides how much. It has no transparency and no animation, but every phone, computer, browser, printer and upload form opens it.

Without this site
On Windows 11, open the WEBP in Paint and use File › Save as › JPEG picture. On a Mac, open it in Preview, choose File › Export, set Format to JPEG and move the quality slider.
If you only need one image from a website, the site may offer a JPG itself: some image search tools and download buttons give a choice of format. For batches, this page is quicker than any of these.
Troubleshooting
- Logo on a black box. A transparent logo has nowhere to put its transparency in a JPG. Pick a background colour that matches where it will sit, or convert to PNG instead.
- Animated WEBP. You get the first frame only.
- Text looks fuzzy. Screenshots and text compress poorly as JPG. Use quality 95, or convert to PNG.
- Bigger than the WEBP. Expected: WEBP is about a quarter more efficient. Lower quality to 80 if size matters.
Questions and answers
How do I save a WEBP image as JPG?
Save the image from the website as usual (you will get a .webp file), then drop it into this page and press Convert. The JPG downloads straight away. You can also convert a whole folder of saved WEBPs at once. On Windows 11, Paint can open the WEBP and save it as JPEG if you prefer a built-in tool.
Is WEBP or JPG better?
For websites WEBP is better: same look, smaller file, plus transparency and animation support. For everything else JPG still wins on compatibility, because every device, app and printer since the 1990s reads it. Keep WEBP for the web and convert to JPG when a program or form refuses it.
What happens to the transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a solid colour. It is white by default; choose another in the settings, for example a brand colour or the colour of the page where the image will appear. Soft, semi-transparent edges are blended onto that colour, so they look smooth on it.
Will the JPG lose quality?
A little, as with any lossy-to-lossy conversion. At the default quality of 90 you are unlikely to see it. Avoid converting the same image back and forth repeatedly, since each round adds a bit of loss; keep the original WEBP if you may need it again.
