Images and PDFs, both ways

PDFs are where people most often carry private things: ID scans, contracts, bank letters, medical forms. That is a good reason to convert them on your own device, and every PDF tool on KiteConvert does exactly that.

Images to PDF

JPG to PDF, PNG to PDF and HEIC to PDF put your pictures into a PDF, one picture per page, in the order you set. You can drag pages to reorder them, rotate single pages, choose the page size (fit to the image, A4 or Letter), the orientation and a margin, and make one PDF for everything or one PDF per image. JPG photos are placed into the PDF as they are, without re-compressing, so the PDF looks exactly like your photos and is built almost instantly. HEIC, WEBP and AVIF images are converted to high-quality JPG first, because PDF readers do not understand those formats.

PDF under a size limit

Many application portals accept “a single PDF under 200 KB”. The JPG to PDF under N KB pages compress the images just enough to fit the whole file under the limit, and tell you the final byte count. If the pages would become unreadable at that size, the tool says so instead of handing you a blurry file.

PDF to images

PDF to JPG and PDF to PNG render each page as an image. Pick the resolution: 72 DPI for a quick preview, 150 DPI (default) for screens and messages, 300 DPI for printing or zooming into small text. You can convert all pages or a range like 1-3,5. Password-protected PDFs ask for the password, which stays in your tab and is never stored.

JPG or PNG from a PDF? Choose JPG for scanned pages and photos (smaller files), PNG for pages with fine text, charts or line drawings that must stay crisp.

PDF PDF is a page-based document format created in 1993 and an open ISO standard (ISO 32000) since 2008. Each page keeps its exact layout, fonts and images, so it looks the same on every device. A PDF can hold scanned photos, text, vector drawings and forms.

JPG JPG is the lossy photo format standardised in 1992 as ITU-T T.81. It throws away detail the eye barely notices, and the quality setting decides how much. It has no transparency and no animation, but every phone, computer, browser, printer and upload form opens it.

PNG PNG is a lossless image format published by the W3C in 1996 and later as ISO/IEC 15948. Every pixel is kept exactly, and it supports full transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos and text. Photos saved as PNG are usually several times larger than as JPG.

Questions and answers

How do I merge several JPGs into one PDF?

Open JPG to PDF, choose or drop all the images, and put them in order by dragging (or with the up and down buttons). Leave the mode on “One PDF” and press Convert. You get a single PDF with one image per page. Page size “Fit to image” keeps each page exactly the size of its picture; A4 or Letter is better if the PDF will be printed.

Will my images lose quality in the PDF?

JPG images are embedded as they are, so they do not lose anything. PNG images are embedded losslessly. HEIC, WEBP and AVIF images are converted to JPG at a high quality first, which is not visible at normal size. Only the “under N KB” pages compress images on purpose, and only as much as the size limit requires.

What DPI should I use for PDF to JPG?

150 DPI suits most uses: an A4 page becomes about 1240 × 1754 pixels, sharp on a phone or laptop screen. Use 300 DPI for printing or when the page has small print you need to zoom into; files are about four times larger. 72 DPI is enough for thumbnails and quick previews.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. The converter asks for it when it opens the file, uses it only inside your browser tab, and does not store it. Without the password the pages cannot be read, so they cannot be converted.
