Put iPhone photos into one PDF on your own device: drag to reorder, pick A4 or Letter, download.

iPhones save photos as HEIC, and many offices, schools and upload forms want a PDF instead. This page decodes each HEIC photo in your browser, turns it upright the way your iPhone showed it, and places it on its own PDF page. You can make one PDF with all photos (a photographed contract, a receipt bundle, homework pages) or one PDF per photo. HEIC can’t go into a PDF directly, so each picture is first converted to a high-quality JPG; nothing leaves your device at any point.

How to convert HEIC to PDF

    1. Add your HEIC photos (from Files, Photos or a folder on your computer); drag the thumbnails into page order and rotate any that are sideways.
    2. Pick the page size: “Fit” makes each page the size of the photo, A4 or Letter suits printing and forms; add a 10 or 20 mm margin if it will be printed.
    3. Keep “One PDF” for a single document or choose “One PDF per image”, then convert and download (several PDFs come as a ZIP).

What happens to quality, size and metadata

PDF has no slot for HEVC-compressed pictures, so every HEIC photo is converted to JPG at quality 92 before it goes onto the page. At that setting the difference from the original is very hard to see, even when zoomed in, but the PDF is usually larger than the HEIC files together, because JPG needs more bytes than HEIC for the same picture. Photos keep their full resolution; we don’t shrink them. Location data (GPS) is never copied into the PDF, and neither is the rest of the photo metadata. Depth maps, Live Photo motion and HDR gain maps are not part of the page: you get the still picture as you see it in Photos.

HEIC HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads save by default since iOS 11. It is the HEIF container from MPEG holding pictures compressed with the HEVC video codec, so a photo takes roughly half the space of a JPG of similar quality. It can also hold depth maps, bursts and the still frame of a Live Photo.

PDF PDF is a page-based document format created in 1993 and an open ISO standard (ISO 32000) since 2008. Each page keeps its exact layout, fonts and images, so it looks the same on every device. A PDF can hold scanned photos, text, vector drawings and forms.

On iPhone: save the photos to the Files app (Photos › Share › Save to Files), select them in Files, tap the “More” (…) button and choose “Create PDF”. You can also select photos in Photos, tap Share › Print, then Share again from the print preview to save a PDF. On a Mac, select the photos in Finder, Control-click and choose Quick Actions › Create PDF. On Windows 11, open the photos in the Photos app (with “HEIF Image Extensions” from the Microsoft Store), press Print and choose the “Microsoft Print to PDF” printer.

    Troubleshooting

    • The photo is sideways in the PDF. We follow the rotation stored by the iPhone; if the iPhone itself showed it sideways, use the rotate button on that thumbnail before converting.
    • The PDF is too big for an upload form. Use JPG to PDF under 200 KB or another size target: it accepts HEIC too and compresses every page to fit.
    • Live Photos and bursts. Only the still key photo is placed in the PDF. Pick the frame you want in Photos first.
    • “We couldn’t read this HEIC image”. A few HEIC files from other cameras use features browsers can’t decode. Export that photo as JPG on the device that made it and add the JPG; for future iPhone photos, Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible saves JPG directly.

    Questions and answers

How do I convert HEIC to PDF on iPhone?

Open this page in Safari on your iPhone, tap “Add files”, choose Photo Library and select your photos. They are converted inside Safari on the phone and the PDF appears in Downloads in the Files app. Without a website, save the photos to Files, select them and use More (…) › Create PDF. Both ways keep everything on the iPhone.

Can I combine several HEIC photos into one PDF?

Yes. “One PDF” is the default: every photo becomes one page, in the order of the thumbnails. Drag thumbnails (or use the up and down buttons) to change the order and rotate pages that are sideways. Photos of different shapes are fine; with A4 or Letter each one is centred and scaled to fit its page.

Does converting HEIC to PDF reduce quality?

Very slightly. A PDF can’t hold HEVC pictures, so each photo is stored as a JPG at quality 92 at full resolution. The difference is not visible at normal zoom. If you need the smallest possible PDF instead, use one of the “JPG to PDF under N KB” pages, which compress harder and tell you the final size.

Are my photos uploaded to make the PDF?

No. The page downloads its converter once and then works on your device: the photos are read, converted and assembled into the PDF by your browser. You can switch on airplane mode after the page has loaded and it still works. Location data from the photos is removed before they go into the PDF.
